Best Kitchen Tools

Here is a list of the 15 most indispensable kitchen tools.

1 - Knives
Paring knife
- Your all-purpose tool, this will get you cutting, slicing or dicing anything small from vegetables to fruit to cheese.
Butcher/Chef’s knife - For all your chopping and dicing needs, there’s none like it.
Carving/Utility Knife - You’ll need this to tackle cutting meat or that Thanksgiving turkey.
Steak knives - Unless you’re a strict vegetarian, you’ll need these to keep all the carnivores in your life happy.

2 - Vegetable peeler - It’s a lot easier and faster to peel potatoes and carrots if you have this utensil handy.

3 – Whisk - This can be used to mix salad dressings and batters and to make your egg yolks fluffy.

4 - Measuring spoons - Use these to ensure you add in exactly what the recipe calls for. Your cooking or baking will never taste or look so good.

5 - Measuring cup -  You have two options: either buy a set of dry measuring cups, and a liquid measure, or buy a measuring cup that is marked for both dry and wet measures. Either way, make sure you have a 2-cup liquid measure in a microwave-safe material. This will come in handy for numerous uses in the kitchen.

6 – Spatulas - Great for flipping an egg; scraping a bowl clean and for getting  all your ingredients into your final product.

7 – Grater - Essential for grating cheese, mincing garlic and shredding chocolate.

8 – Spoons
Wooden spoon

Mixing spoon - Great for stirring things together and can double as a serving spoon.
Slotted spoon - Ideal for draining vegetables or for serving soup without vegetables (for a picky eater).
Ladle - Essential for scooping soup or pasta sauce.

9 - Kitchen scissors - Handy to cut the plastic away from a fresh bouquet of flowers or to snip the string off a bunch of asparagus.

10 - Can opener - A standard handheld or an electric model - you just can’t open a can without it.

11 - Cutting board - Plastic or wood is the best material (glass will damage the edge of your knife).

12 - Mixing Bowls - Get a variety of sizes to fit your different mixing needs.

13 – Tongs - Great for handling food during cooking. They will give you great control, protect you from the heat and allow you to look like a pro.

14 - A pizza wheel - The use of a pizza wheel avoids the dislodging of loose toppings that you typically get through the back-and-forth motion of a knife’s blade. Whether the pizza is homeade, store-bought or ordered in, your slices will remain intact with this smart little tool.

15 - A hand mixer - Very handy to use in bowls on the counter, or pans on the stove. Its compact size allows it to be easily stored, and some are even cordless.
